- Compensation: is commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License with a Principal endorsement or similar certification is required.
- Must be endorsed in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) to evaluate certified staff.
- Five years of successful experience in teaching.
- Successful background in building or district leadership is preferred.
- Ability to model high levels of character, integrity, best practices in teaching, appropriate professional demeanor, interactions, and conduct.
- Ability to foster positive student, school, and community relations.
- Ability to manage difficult situations courteously and tactfully.
- Ability to communicate courteously, respectfully, and effectively with all stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
- Excellent work ethic.
- The ability to come to work regularly and to be timely.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Principal of the Freshman Campus building.
- Provide dynamic leadership in the areas of instruction, staff development, and student learning at the Freshman Campus.
- Cultivate a climate conducive to learning and inspire a sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to obtain feedback on programmatic and facility needs. Use this information to develop and implement short-term and long-range plans.
- Evaluate administrative staff, certified staff, and educational support personnel as assigned.
- Oversee and facilitate the interview process for new staff members as assigned.
- Develop and implement programs and proactive communications to facilitate student, parental, and community awareness and involvement of school activities, policies, procedures, and student achievement.
- Work with district staff to plan and coordinate articulation with feeder districts.
- Collaborate with a variety of district staff members to develop and execute an effective data-driven student placement and course selection process with feeder districts.
- Oversee credit recovery efforts at the Freshman Campus to support the 9th grade “on-track” strategic goal and mission.
- Oversee all AVID classroom and schoolwide initiatives.
- Plan and organize an effective staff communications strategy, which includes comprehensive faculty meetings, weekly staff updates, a planned feedback system, and departmental meetings.
- Work collaboratively with the Upper Campus Principal to ensure a successful transition from 9th to 10th grade for students.
- Develop a principal's office budget each year.
- Regularly represent the Freshman Campus at school and community functions.
- Comply with all ISBE requirements and Board Policy.
- Attend Board of Education meetings and provide reports as assigned by the Superintendent.
- All other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
