Terms of Employment:
- Responsible To: Director of Buildings and Grounds
- Location: To be determined - ability to travel between campuses
- Hourly Rate: $15.00 / hr for 18 and older; $13.00 / hr for youth under 18
- Hours Per Day: 8 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Daily Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (subject to change due to assignment)
- Benefits: This temporary position is not eligible for benefits
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/equivalent or current student of McHenry Community High School District 156
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed
- Self-starter that works with minimum supervision
- Ability to follow oral and written instruction
Responsibilities / Duties:
Provides support to district facilities staff and its outsourced custodial staff as directed in the following areas:
- Cleaning all area of the schools
- Furniture moving in/out of classrooms
- Dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping/scrubbing of floors
- Emptying/cleaning of all trash and recycling containers
- Cleaning glass and windows
- Light maintenance such as mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, etc.
- All other duties as directed by the Director of Builidings and Grounds and/or his designee
*Must be flexible and adaptable, moving from job to job at a moment's notice and be able to multi-task by completing several jobs.
Working Conditions:
Physical
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, move equipment and furniture, and reach with hands and arms
- The employee will occasionally repeat actions with the same hand, arm, or finger motion such as when using tools
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, such as cleaning supplies, container, and materials unloaded from shipping
- The employee may occasionally lift in excess of 90 pounds: i.e. case lots of paper, boxes of books, tables, chairs, furniture desks, etc.
- The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines
- The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders
- Work is usually conducted at one job site. However, on occassion, the employee will be asked to perform functions off site: i.e. equipment or material delivery between campuses
Equipment
- General custodial equipment includes, but is not limited to: mops/brooms/scrapers, scrubbing machines, pallet jack, carts, and radios (walkie-talkie)
- General maintenance/grounds equipment includes, but is not limited to: small hand tools, power washer, weed trimmer, push mower, edger, etc.
