Terms of Employment:
- Responsible To: Director of Special Education
- Location: Upper Campus - traveling between campuses may be required
- Calendar: 180 Day / School-Year Employee + 15 summer days as assigned
- Daily Schedule: M-F; 7:15 am - 3:00pm
- Compensation: is commensurate with experience

Qualifications:
- Issued Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 (K-12) endorsement is preferred. Staff with School Counselor, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, or Speech Language Pathologist endorsement may be considered depending on experience.
- Principal endorsement or equivalent endorsement is preferred.
- Four years of successful special education teaching is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with community stakeholders, agencies, staff, parents, and students
Responsibilities / Duties:
General Responsibilities:
- Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
- Ensure compliance with special education laws and mandates.
- Coordinate services, placements, and compliance, and serve as the LEA Representative at special education meetings to ensure the accuracy of special education paperwork.
- Assist in overseeing special education resource programming district-wide.
- Serve as a case manager as needed.
- Schedule, coach, and provide professional development for Instructional Assistants.
- Coordinate current contracted related services, personnel, and programming as needed for students.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and evaluating FBA/BIP’s, compliance, best practices, student goal-setting, parental communication, academic and behavior interventions, etc.
- Provide for department representation at orientation events as requested.
- Train appropriate staff on the utilization of the special education student management system (i.e. Embrace) program in areas of IEPs.
- Assist in the coordination of Extended School Year.
- Other duties as assigned.
Special Education Coordinator - Position 1:
- Assigned to the Upper Campus
- Oversee Resource Programming across the District
- Support Special Education students and teachers in grades 10-12 and serve as the primary point of contact.
- Up to 15 summer days as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
