Terms of Employment:
- Responsible to: Assistant Principal or designee
- Location: Upper or Freshman Campus as assigned
- Calendar: 177 Day / School-Year Employee (prorated based upon start date)
- Daily Schedule: Daily schedule varies between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Level: Paraprofessional Level 2
- Hours Per Day: 7.5 hours per day which includes a 15-min paid break
- Unpaid Meal Break: 30 minutes
- Hourly Rate: $16.32
- Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave. IMRF participation is required
Minimum Qualification:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Illinois Paraprofessional License is required
- Must be fluent in English and in Spanish particularly in the areas of Speaking, Reading, and Writing
- 30 college hours preferred
- Must be flexible and adaptable to surroundings and situations
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Computer experience preferred
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
- Assist in facilitating the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
- Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Assisting teachers/classroom with student behaviors and academics
- Provide language support for students assigned to English Learner Team.
- Assisting classroom teachers with accommodated materials.
- Assist in the translation of documents when asked.
- Work individually with students during approved time.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
