Terms of Employment:

Temporary position for Summer School 2025. As such, the Summer School positions are not guaranteed from year-to-year and interested applicants will need to reapply annually. 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Illinois Paraprofessional License, Illinois Substitute Teaching License or Illinois Professional Educator License is required. 
  3. 30 college hours is preferred.
  4. Experience working with persons with special needs is preferred.
  5. Flexible and adaptable to surroundings and situations.
  6. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  7. Computer/technology experience is preferred. 
  8. Must respect the confidentiality of sensitive information. 

 

Responsibilities / Duties:

  1. Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
  2. Assist students with academics, behaviors, and/or physical needs.
  3. Assist teachers/classrooms with student behaviors and academics.
  4. Assist with classroom clerical tasks and/or data collection as assigned.
  5. Complete assessments and surveys with students as assigned.
  6. Assisting with progress monitoring and providing accommodations under the guidance of the classroom teacher. This may include assisting with assessments, taking notes, behavior plans, tracking and documenting daily assignments/academic plans, etc. 
  7. Provide job coaching as assigned.
  8. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. 
  2. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). 
  3. Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. 
  4. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
