Terms of Employment:
- Responsible To: Director of Buildings and Grounds or designee
- Location: Freshman Campus
- Calendar: Year-Round Employee (prorated based upon start date)
- Daily Schedule: M-F - 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
- Hours Per Day: 8.0 hours per day which includes a 15-minute paid break
- Unpaid Meal Break: 30 minutes
- Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave. IMRF participation is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Follow oral and written directions and schedules.
- Work either independently with limited supervision, or as a part of a crew, requiring close teamwork and coordination.
- Work precisely and with attention to detail without immediate supervision.
- Adapt easily to work assignments, additional priorities, and new procedures.
- Promote team building and a positive work environment.
- Be flexible, exhibit integrity, and exercise mature judgement.
- Maintain work schedules in performing tasks.

Responsibilities / Duties:
- Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
- Attends meetings and department training for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Informs students and other site personnel for the purpose of providing information and direction regarding activities, safety issues, and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Monitors work area when performing job responsibilities for the purpose of preventing injuries and ensuring site safety.
- Performs minor, job related, maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures (e.g. change vacuum cleaner belts, bags, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper functioning and usability of items.
- Performs summer maintenance (e.g. strip/wax floors, moves furniture, painting, etc.) for the purpose of completing and/or facilitating summer construction.
- Prepares site for daily operations for the purpose of ensuring facilities are operational and hazard free.
- Replenishes classroom and bathroom supplies for the purpose of ensuring adequate quantities for daily use.
- Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc) for the purpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.
- Supports District maintenance staff for the purpose of completing site custodial activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear
- The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on ladders.
- The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more, such as cleaning supplies, pails, and unloading trucks.
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
