Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Bachelor Degree is preferred
  3. 5 years of prior payroll experience is preferred
  4. Skyward Qmlativ or similar financial software platform experience is preferred
  5. Knowledge of payroll processing including federal, state, and pension requirements 
  6. Demonstrate extensive computer skills and keyboard proficiency
  7. Must be detail-oriented 
  8. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  9. Demonstrate exceptional time management skills
  10. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under minimal supervision
  11. Highly ethical and must respect the confidentiality of sensitive information  
  12. Ability to meet all required timelines and deadlines

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices.
  2. Assist in developing reporting processes, procedures and internal controls for the purpose of maintaining and ensuring compliance with payroll practices in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws. 
  3. Perform office duties including but not limited to: filing, data entry, accurate reporting, collecting, organizing, and maintaining paperwork, records, and communication systems. 
  4. Complete the semi-monthly entry, processing, and disbursement of district payroll.
  5. Complete the related payroll liabilities, including State and Federal taxes, TRS, IMRF, unemployment, 403b, wage garnishments, association dues, etc.
  6. Process and remit quarterly tax payments.
  7. Complete quarterly Fairbanks Medicaid reporting.
  8. Process and distribute annual W-2s.
  9. Reconcile timesheets semi-monthly.  
  10. Reconcile and review staff time-off transactions to ensure accuracy. 
  11. Maintain and update various district spreadsheets.
  12. Maintain and update payroll employee files.
  13. Complete monthly account reconciliation for assigned bank accounts. 
  14. Complete required TRS and IMRF reports.
  15. Processes and maintains data for all contract updates, tax changes, union dues, etc. 
  16. Provide necessary documentation for financial audits.
  17. Provide support to employees and departments for payroll and timekeeping questions and issues. 
  18. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all staff and administration.
  19. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with payroll requirements and processes. 
  20. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

 

Physical Requirements:

  1. Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. 
  2. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). 
  3. Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. 
  4. Exposure to noise and activity in an office setting.
  5. Close visual acuity, preparing and analyzing data, viewing computers, and extensive reading.
